What We Know
NC State is currently transitioning to a new learning management system: Canvas by Instructure. This will be a multi-year transition project, and faculty will receive clear timelines and guidance throughout the process.
In July 2025, the University of North Carolina System Board of Governors unanimously approved a resolution to standardize the use of a single, unified LMS across all institutions in the UNC System.
Canvas by Instructure was selected as the LMS platform in order to consolidate technology across campuses, increase cost efficiencies and provide greater familiarity for incoming first-year and transfer students.
DELTA will be managing NC State’s transition from Moodle to Canvas. This website will be updated regularly with project updates, including a timeline, high-level roadmap and initial steps for the move from Moodle to Canvas.
