Bio
Tony Pearson — an accomplished, innovative, result-driven professional with 37 years of Broadcast/IT experience. In his current role as Senior Associate Director, he serves as the strategic and operational lead for Video Communication Services and is ultimately responsible for the overall design, planning, integration, and implementation of classroom technologies and infrastructure to support Distance Education and Learning Technology Applications (DELTA) and North Carolina State University’s distance education mission. He and his team provide multiple levels of support services to meet the distance education and enterprise video communications needs of campus programs. Tony and his team deployed the first of its kind Video Over IP solution using SMPTE ST 2110 as the standard to upgrade the aging infrastructure in the Centralized Control Room.
In addition to being an award-winning producer/editor of educational, training, and promotional material, Tony has also been recognized throughout his career in multiple organizational settings as a high achiever and technology consultant. He has received numerous awards including the Provost’s Award for Excellence, University’s Award for Excellence, Pride of the Wolfpack Award, North Carolina Research and Educational Network (NCREN) Community Choice Award, and the Governor’s Employee Incentive Award. Tony’s roots began in broadcast engineering and quickly transitioned to Information Technology. He designed and built the first non-linear video editing system for NC State’s College of Engineering Industrial Extension Service and was the primary technical lead and producer for multiple distance learning satellite networks including the APDLN Air Pollution Distance Learning Network for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and The Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE).
Tony holds certifications in H.323 applications/bridging infrastructure, media storage environments/workflows, and resource scheduling software. In addition, he is a certified SMART trainer and a Certified Technology Specialist (CTS).
