Summer Institute was started by Learning Technology Services before it became a part of DELTA. The logo had to be redesigned to include DELTA. The idea behind the intensive training sessions was for faculty to get comfortable learning and teaching with technologies.
By providing resources (software, training, buddies), encouragement, and opportunities to discuss implementing instructional technology with faculty who are already doing this, the Institute aims to generate excitement about instructional technology’s potential and give participants practical, applicable skills that can get them started in using technology in their instructional endeavors. Specific outcomes include increasing comfort levels in using technologies to enhance teaching and learning, increasing participants’ skills in planning and scoping technology use for their courses, and creating an awareness of university resources and support structures.
