Katie Bean Wins Provost’s Unit Award for Excellence

Congratulations are in order for DELTA’s Marketing and Partnership Development Program Manager Katie Bean who received the Provost’s Unit Award for Excellence on March 31 as part of the NC State Awards for Excellence. The awards program recognizes individuals whose contributions surpass their normal job responsibilities. Bean was one of four to receive the prestigious award and was nominated for her outstanding work in customer service.

The customer service category recognizes a candidate who provides exceptional service and creates a positive customer experience, adding value to and exceeding customer expectations.

Although Associate Vice Provost for DELTA’s Marketing & Partnership Development Kay Zimmerman nominated Bean, other coworkers such as Dr. Donna Petherbridge also had great things to say about her. Petherbridge noted that Bean “works tirelessly in working across various DELTA teams to provide excellent coordination and support.” Petherbridge also credits her with being patient and thorough as well as having the ability to conquer all tasks thrown her way.

Associate Vice Provost for Distance and Distributed Education Dr. Rebecca Swanson, DELTA, also compliments Bean for being proactive and applauds her collegiality and interpersonal skills.

“You’d have to look long and hard to find someone with Katie Bean’s dedication and expertise for fulfillment of her multiple responsibilities,” said Swanson.

In addition to a plaque to mark her achievement, Bean received an extra day of vacation and a check for $250.

Bean now moves on to the university-level awards ceremony June 14. Congrats, Katie!
