Recorder Hotfix for 7.1.10

A hotfix has been released by Sonic Foundry for 7.1.10 recorders, updating the build from 3109 to 3112. All 7.1.10 recorders should be updated to 3112. This is a hotfix type of install; there are no major changes or restores. Set your 7.1.10 recorders to update at 3:00 AM, or push it to them from the management portal.

Major fixes 7.1.10 Build 3112

Log Number Resolution
#44828 Fixed problem in Recorder for single video presentations where slide playback was not in sync with video playback.
#44755 Fixed problem in Recorder where some scheduled presentations did not display in Internet Explorer 11 or Firefox browsers if the local time included a positive UTC offset.

Of course, any 7.0 recorder upgrading to 7.1.10 from this point on will receive build 3112.

Recorder Software Update

Instructions for updating 7.0 recorders  to 7.1.10 are here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rSr8tgGp6DGcWJ-FG3KMWn6CxrT7ZtvWgxxDBumbadA/edit#.

If you are unsure which software versions are supported by your hardware version of recorder, please log in to the Sonic Foundry Support website:  https://support.sonicfoundry.com/

New Recorders will have 7.1.10 Image and Software

If you receive a “refresh” recorder or purchase a new recorder this coming year, it will come with the 7.1.10 image and software. If it’s a refresh, you’ll want to review the instructions so you can transfer your recorder settings and certificate from the existing recorder to the replacement.

Test Environment

Our production server is on 7.0.27. The test environment is running 7.0.28. We encourage you to test your workflow on it during the Fall 2016 semester.

Test Instances

  • Every Mediasite Instance is on the test server.
  • The URL is instancename-testing.online.ncsu.edu/online/manage.
  • You have access to your test Instance, 24/7, unless it’s being updated or is otherwise down for maintenance.
  • Publishing presentations to the test environment is just like production publishing, once you’ve connected a recorder.
  • If for some reason you can’t log in, or someone on your team can’t log in, contact us immediately and we’ll correct it.

Mediasite Monthly Server Maintenance

Accommodating Students with Disabilities

The most recent Chancellor 3D memo regarding faculty responsibilities in accommodating students with disabilities was just released. It can be seen here:

For Mediasite, DSO accommodation almost always means closed captioning. When working with a captioning provider, always reference the NC State Convenience Contract 298479 to ensure you receive the discounted rate. Information about NC State closed captioning rates can be found here:

Please contact it-access@ncsu.edu if you have any questions.
