Exploring Immersive Experiences in Biodiversity
After wrapping up three video shoots at different locations across North Carolina, DELTA’s project team shared their experiences as well as the future vision of immersive experience and story-based learning in 360° environments.
A Work in Progress: Animal Nutrition for Companion Pets
DELTA worked with Teaching Assistant Professor Kimberly Ange-van Heugten on a Distance Education Course Grant to create a new course focused on animal nutrition for canines and felines. Students will use the various deliverables from DELTA to create a simulation of a specialized cat or dog food for their final project.
Online and Distance Education Virtual Orientation Refresh
Equipped with interactive lessons, quizzes and a range of NC State resources, the revised Virtual Orientation gives students an impressive toolkit for success in their online courses. The updated orientation was completed in May 2017 to create a more interactive experience.
DELTA Updates Its Learning Analytics Annotated Bibliography
DELTA’s Coordinator for Learning Analytics and Assessment Chris Willis, updated the annotated bibliography as a resource for faculty.
Top Hat: The New Tool to Improve Student Engagement
Are you looking to better engage students and use their existing devices in your favor? Leveraging a mobile device as a learning tool is what Top Hat is all about. NC State acquired an enterprise-level license for Top Hat in May 2017, meaning faculty can use it at no cost to their students.
SARA Streamlines Education for Out-of-State Students
The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) allows NC State to offer its online and distance education courses to out-of-state students. NC State was approved in October 2016 to participate in SARA-North Carolina as one of the first few institutions in the state to join.
A Work in Progress: Adding WolfWare Tools
The Applications Development team has been working to create new tools in WolfWare. The WolfWare Email tool and WolfWare WordPress will be available as a technology preview in Fall 2017. The new tools are being introduced to replace pieces of WolfWare Classic functionality.
Teaching Cultural Competencies Through Virtual Reality
NC State’s Global Training Initiative and DELTA staff have incorporated virtual reality in an immersive approach to teach cultural competencies to students and professionals in an online environment.
Increasing Efficiency, Collaboration Through Agile
A group of DELTA project coordinators and program managers attended the Agile2016 Conference and came back ready to share the knowledge they had gained as well as incorporate new approaches and practices to promote collaboration and efficiency among DELTA staff.
