The 7th annual DELTA-Con, NC State’s unconference experience, was held Tuesday, May 9, in the Center for Technology and Innovation (CTI) on Centennial Campus with 40 attendees. The wholly in-person 2023 event included faculty, staff and graduate students from area higher education institutions.

The goal of DELTA-Con is to learn from the wisdom of the audience by having participants share how they make certain strategies or tools inspiring to others. This unconference format allows for the participants to set the schedule the day of the event.

Participants shared their knowledge, expertise and best practices on a wide variety of topics, from using immersive technologies in classroom settings to understanding the benefits of “gamification” to using collaborative tools for community building and more!

This year also included a Speed Geeking session, where DELTA’s Digital Learning experts teamed up with NC State instructors to provide information regarding technologies available for use in courses. Each Speed Geeking table had approximately 5 minutes to grab the audience’s attention and entice them to learn more about a new technology or strategy.

According to DELTA Lead Instructional Technologist Arlene Mendoza-Moran, The Speed Geeking session was a great addition to the day.

“I loved the conversations that happened at DELTA-Con! Speed Geeking was a fun event where participants rotated around seven different stations where faculty gave 5-minute demonstrations of tech tools,” Mendoza-Moran said. “It was a lively session that kept the energy up and the conversations going after the lunch break.”
