MUG Meeting — Save the Date

The NC State Mediasite Users Group meeting is March 23 from 2 -3:30 p.m. at DELTA in the Center for Technology and Innovation (CTI) building, Room 230-01.

Sonic Foundry’s Mark Weiler will be presenting information regarding server software version 7.2.   

Directions: CTI is on the SW corner of Main Campus Drive and Research Drive on Centennial Campus. C permit parking is available on the street or in the Oval West parking deck. The street address and a link to an interactive map is below.

From CTI Main Campus front door, take lobby stairs or elevator to second floor. The first door on left is DELTA 230, Conference Room 01 first door on right upon entering the suite.

DELTA Spring Break Maintenance

DELTA will be performing system maintenance over Spring Break. For your convenience, here is the SysNew post in its entirety:

DELTA systems staff will be performing a series of maintenance items starting the morning of Monday, March 6 and continuing through noon of Tuesday, March 7. While we do not expect any major outages of DELTA services such as WolfWare, Moodle or Mediasite, there will be several short outages and/or periods of sluggishness and instability during this time.

Our expected schedule is as follows: Monday morning: DELTA staff will be applying firmware updates to our storage arrays. This is expected to cause 30 – 60 minutes of sluggishness in DELTA services.

Monday afternoon: DELTA staff will be updating the PHP version on the servers, rebooting Linux servers to apply the latest kernels, moving our primary MySQL database to a new server, and updating the Microsoft SQL Server (for Mediasite) to the latest version. This work will cause several short outages (~5 minutes) to WolfWare and Moodle while critical servers such as databases reboot. Mediasite will experience a short (~15-20 minute) outage during the SQL Server upgrade.

Tuesday morning: updates will be applied to the F5 load balancers. This will cause a brief outage of all DELTA services.

Testing Your Production Workflow

The Mediasite Test server has been updated to 7.0.29, Build 3204.

The Mediasite testing environment is available 24/7.

  • The test server is on version 7.0.29, Build 3204.
  • The most recent recorder image is 7.1.11
  • The most recent recorder version is 7.1.12 Build 3853
  • 7.1.12 versions require image 7.1.10 or 7.1.11.
  • Every Mediasite Instance is on the test server.
  • You have access to your test Instance, 24/7.
  • The URL is identical to your production instance URL except “-testing” is inserted after the college/department name, such as delta-testing, coe-testing, textiles-testing, etc.
