Two DELTA staff members were honored recently as 2015 Awards of Excellence nominees, which honors outstanding individual achievements and contributions to the NC State mission. John Gordon and Jeff Webster were honored during an awards ceremony, along with 12 other nominees from the units reporting to the Office of the Provost.

Dr. Warwick A. Arden presided over the ceremony and presented the awards held April 2 in Witherspoon Center in Raleigh.

Gordon, Broadcast & Emerging Media Manager, has been with DELTA for six years. He was nominated by Tony Pearson, Associate Director of Video Communication Services, in the customer service category.

In his nomination, Pearson mentioned his professionalism, his tireless efforts to connect within and outside of the university as well as his ability to generate repeat clients. Pearson included several faculty and staff comments providing evidence of the quality of Gordon’s work and his value to NC State.

According to Pearson, “John is a marvelous example of how to work in a very energetic fashion and is dedicated to helping DELTA and NC State achieve excellence in their missions.”

Webster, Senior Associate Director, Applications Development, has been at DELTA for seven years for a total of almost 19 years at NC State. Nominated by his boss Lou Harrison, Director of Educational Technology Services, in the customer service category.

Harrison pointed out Webster’s commitment to leading NC State move forward in innovative ways including his involvement as one of the founding creators of WolfWare, which is used by most faculty and staff on campus. Webster has led the way for implementing Moodle (an internationally used Learning Management System), Blackboard Collaborate (a synchronous tool), Equella (a content management system) and Sonic Foundry’s Mediasite (a lecture-capture system).
