From May 13 to 17, DELTA will offer training opportunities during our Summer Shorts in Instructional Technologies program in the DH Hill Library, from 8:45 a.m. until noon. 16 workshops and seminars will be available. This year we’re adding “Birds of a Feather” discussion sessions and an Open Lab, where DELTA staff will be available to assist you with course design or other instructional technology needs.

With Moodle 2 right around the corner, attendees will have the opportunity to prepare for the upgrade by attending the following hands-on workshops:

  • Transitioning to Moodle 2
  • Moving Your Moodle 2 Course
  • Moodle 2: Activities and Communication
  • Moodle 2: Quizzing
  • Moodle 2: Gradebook

Seminar topics include:

  • Mid-Semester Evaluations Using Qualtrics
  • Mobile Learning
  • Clickers in the Sciences
  • The Horizon Report

During “Birds of a Feather” Friday, attendees can join DELTA staff and campus colleagues for engaging, information discussions about topics such as:

  • MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses)
  • Flipping the Classroom
  • Videos and Screencasting
  • Mobile Apps in the Classroom

On Friday, attendees will have the opportunity to bring their Moodle 2 questions to the Open Lab.

On Monday and Wednesday, we’ll be hosting luncheon presentations from noon – 1:30 p.m. Monday’s presentation, “Creating and Using Learning Objects,” will be presented by Dr. Betty Black, NC State Professor of Biology. Wednesday’s presentation, “Future Trends in Higher Education,” will be from Dr. Tom Miller, DELTA’s Senior Vice Provost.

A complete workshop and seminar schedule will be available on April 8.
