Distribution and BroadcastingVCS distributes and broadcasts video programming for university- and state-affiliated organizations. Video streamingVCS can produce live or on-demand Webcasts of courses, videoconferences, and events in streaming video and audio for the NC State community and beyond. Users access video streamed events on their computers’ Real Media players. Video streaming services are free to NC State faculty and staff. DuplicationDuplicating of a maximum run of ten VHS tapes, CDs, or DVDs is available on a fee-for-service basis (See VCS rate schedule.) Video formats available are DVD, VHS, SVHS, Mini DV, DVC Pro, and Beta SP. Duplicating services are subject to copyright restrictions. Copyright media cannot be duplicated. Satellite Uplinking and DownlinkingVCS can arrange for satellite uplinking (transmitting) services of KU-band and C-band through an arrangement with NCREN We have satellite downlinking (receiving) capability for a wide variety of KU- and C-band analog and digital programming. Downlinking services are on a fee-for-service basis (See VCS rate schedule), and the client is responsible for registration or connection fees charged by third-party providers. Uplinking services are billed directly by NCREN.
