Flu-Proofing Your Course

"Flu-Proofing Your Course" is a website for faculty that describes what to expect if your students contract H1N1, how to plan your courses to anticipate student absences or your own absence, and ways to use technology to continue your courses even if you cannot meet face-to-face with your classes. The website has been developed by the Office of Faculty Development and DELTA in cooperation with the Student Health Center.

NC State University to Migrate to Moodle Learning Management System

In April 2009, North Carolina State University’s Moodle Pilot Implementation Team submitted a recommendation to Dr. Thomas K. Miller III, Vice Provost of Distance Education and Learning Technology Applications (DELTA), that the university transition from its two existing Learning Management Systems (LMSs)—Blackboard Vista and WolfWare—to a new, rewritten version of WolfWare that is built upon the open-source LMS Moodle. This recommendation follows a two-year process that included input from the campus community and a one-year pilot test of Moodle. DELTA Fall Workshop Registration Now Open

Registration for DELTA’s Fall 2009 Workshops and Seminars is now open! Our fall classes start on Tuesday, September 8th and continue through December 8th. During this time, we are offering over 70 classes, including new brown bag seminars.

Workshops & seminars are offered to NCSU faculty, staff and graduate students at no charge, and most classes are held in the ITTC Labs in DH Hill Library. However, please check your registration information carefully as the class may be held in another building or online using Elluminate Live.

On Wednesday April 22nd, the TLTR (Teaching, Learning & Technology Roundtable) will hold a meeting from 3:30-5pm in the Faculty Senate Chambers of DH Hill Library. The meeting agenda is: How Far Have We Come in Exploring Moodle as an Alternative LMS to Blackboard's Vista? Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and provide feedback on a possible move to a new, open source system.

There is one week remaining for faculty to apply to attend the 2009 Summer Institute.

The Teaching and Learning with Technology Summer Institute is a way for faculty to learn about instructional technology tools and techniques that can be used to support teaching and learning at NC State. The 11th
Annual Summer Institute will be held May 11-15, 2009 in the DH Hill Library. The morning cohort will run from 8:45am - 1:30pm, and the afternoon cohort will run from noon until 5pm. (Lunch for both cohorts, which includes invited guest speakers, is from 12 - 1:30pm).
