Requirements

Minimum Computing Competencies Needed for Attending DELTA Workshops:

  • Comfortable using a Windows PC environment (the ITTC Labs are all Windows PCs)
  • Comfortable using Web browsers
  • Ability to type on a keyboard and cut and paste text electronically
  • Ability to manage files on a computer, including finding documents and directories on the desktop and navigating around them

Contact the office of Information Technology (classreg@ncsu.edu) or your local college computing staff for assistance in this area.

Basic Skills/Requirements for Creating Instructional Websites:

  • All of the minimum computing competencies described previously on either a Windows, Linux, or Macintosh platform.
  • Technical Skills
    • Ability to transfer files to servers (e.g., FTP, WebDAV, Web folders)
    • Ability to work with .zip files (e.g., archiving, unarchiving)
  • Knowledge of campus resources
  • Awareness of the advantages and limitations of publishing to the Web, including a basic understanding of:
  • Awareness of effective online teaching practices
