Problem:
Why would I use DVDs to support my instruction?
Solution:
DVDs, as opposed to the Internet, are commonly used for a few major reasons:
1. When you do not have enough space on the web to store a large media file(s)
Large media files require high bandwidth to download and take up a lot of
space in an online course locker (such as in Vista) or on a server. Putting
such
materials on DVD or CD will free up space for other materials needed for your
course.
2. Accessible to all with no download times
Sometimes video downloads can take a while and they all require an internet
connection. Additionally complications could arise from a student's computer
not having enough space for your file. Distributing DVDs enables students with
low bandwidth Internet connections to view the media without experiencing
long download times and students without an internet connection or without
enough hard drive space to view with ease.
