Problem:
What is a WolfWare PREP locker and how do I set it up?
Solution:
A PREP locker is file space allocated to the instructor for preparing course
materials in advance of the semester when the course will be taught.
Prep lockers are listed at http://prep.wolfware.ncsu.edu/.
If you need a locker to prepare for a class for an upcoming semester,
go to http://wolfware.ncsu.edu/ and
select "Add a Course to WolfWare."
Enter the course information, select Go!, and then select the Add box
beside the course and section you are teaching. You will receive email telling
you the prep course's URL at http://prep.wolfware.ncsu.edu/ and its
location in AFS space.
The locker will be created at
/afs/eos/courses/xxx/xxxyyy/prep/xxxyyy_zzz#year/
e.g.,
/afs/eos/courses/csc/csc116/prep/csc116_70082002/
where:
xxx=dept prefix
yyy=course number
zzz=section number (prep courses not in TRACS get a 700 section number)
#=number of semester, 1, 6, 7, or 8 (1 for January, Spring semester; 6
for June, Summer Session I; 7 for July, Summer Session II; 8 for
August, Fall semester)
year=four-digit year
You can view the content in the prep space with the URL:
http://prep.wolfware.ncsu.edu/xxxyyy_zzz#year/
(e.g., http://prep.wolfware.ncsu.edu/csc116_70082002/)
When semester rollover occurs (see http://wolfware.ncsu.edu for the exact date
), the prep course will move automatically to live space at http://courses.ncsu.edu/.
If you already have content for this course archived, select Restore Parked
Locker on the Admin Tools page (from WolfWare Toolbox) to copy all your web
files from the archived locker to the prep locker.
If you are preparing a course that is not yet in TRACS, send an email request
for a locker to help@wolfware.ncsu.edu, and we will
create a special 700-section locker by hand. Provide as much of the following
as you know.
class: prefix number suffix
semester: fall, spring, sum1, sum2, sum ten-week
year:
instructor: name and Unity ID
