How secure is WolfWare Submit?

Return to FAQs

Solution Summary:

Submit is very secure, using SSH and the campus web-realm authentication protocol (WRAP).

Full Solution:

Problem: How secure is WolfWare Submit? Solution: WolfWare Submit uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) for secure transmission of student files into a secure file storage area. The Unix/AFS infrastructure also locks down permissions on directories, as does the campus-developed WRAP system (Web Realm Authentication Protocol). The computer security coordinator for campus is one of WolfWare's developers, so very close attention is paid to security. Please let us know if you suspect any security fallibility or breach (help@wolfware.ncsu.edu). For more information on WolfWare, see http://wolfware.ncsu.edu/help/ and http://courses.ncsu.edu/.
