What email lists are automatically created for a Wolfware course?
Solution:
WolfWare automatically generates two email lists for each section and two email
lists for each course. However, the instructor can only change the settings on
one email list--the main section mail list--through the WolfWare Toolbox ->
Set Mailing List Access.
SECTION MAIL LISTS:
1. The mail list that instructors will use most often is the section mail list.
To contact the class, the instructor simply writes to:
xxxyyy-zzz@wolfware.ncsu.edu
(e.g., csc114-001@wolfware.ncsu.edu)
By default, only the instructor and support staff can email the above list, not
the students in the class. However, the instructor can change this setting at
WolfWare Toolbox -> Set Mailing List Access to allow students in the section
and other individuals to write to the mail list. In this way, the mail address
can be made to work like a "listserv"-type discussion list.

e.g., csc114-001-sup@wolfware.ncsu.edu
Students write to this mail list to contact their instructor and support staff.
COURSE EMAIL LISTS
1. xxxyyy@wolfware.ncsu.edu

If an instructor has several sections to contact, s/he can write to the course
email list, and Wolfware knows to send that mail only to the sections owned by
that instructor. Students cannot write to this mail list.
2. xxxyyy-sup@wolfware.ncsu.edu
e.g., csc114-sup@wolfware.ncsu.edu
Students write to this mail list to contact all course instructors and support
staffs.
SUMMARY
If you teach ALL sections of a multi-section course and send email to:
xxxyyy@wolfware.ncsu.edu
all students and support staff in the sections will receive it. If you are not
teaching all sections of a multi-section course, only those sections you do
teach will receive the email you send to xxxyyy@wolfware.ncsu.edu.
Students cannot send email to the above course mail list, but they can send to
the email address of the section they are in:
xxxyyy-zzz@wolfware.ncsu.edu
if and ONLY if the instructor has set that access (via WolfWare Toolbox ->
Set Mailing List Access).
If a student sends email to section support:
xxxyyy-zzz-sup@wolfware.ncsu.edu
it is received by the instructor/support staff of that section only. However,
if the student sends email to course support:
xxxyyy-sup@wolfware.ncsu.edu
it is received by all instructors and support staffs for the course.
