What are the read-write permissions on a WolfWare course locker?

Return to FAQs

Solution Summary:

Read-write permissions are set by Wolfware and standardized across all courses.

Full Solution:

Problem: Who can read and write in the course locker? What are the read-write permssions that WolfWare sets? Solution: In AFS, permissions are set on directories (folders), not individual files (rl=read, rlidwk=write, rlidwka=administer). The following are the default settings for the course and section lockers' /www directories. Course: /afs/eos/courses/xxx/xxxyyy/www/ (world read, sysadmin write, edit by instructors and support staff via WolfWare Toolbox->Edit WWW Boilerplate) Common: /afs/eos/courses/xxx/xxxyyy/common/www/ (world read, course instructors and support staffs write) Section (both lab and lecture): /afs/eos/courses/xxx/xxxyyy/lec/zzz/www/ (world read, section instructor and support staff write) Section WRAP-protected directory (both lab and lecture): /afs/eos/courses/xxx/xxxyyy/lec/zzz/www/wrap/ (support staff read and write). Can be altered via WolfWare Toolbox ->Configure WRAP Access to open read access to all NCSU, all course, selected sections, or one section only. Additional individual users with realm IDs can also be given read access. For more information on WolfWare, see http://wolfware.ncsu.edu/help/ and http://courses.ncsu.edu/
