bio

Amanda's educational background includes a Bachelor's of Graphic Design and a Master's of Industrial Design, both from the College of Design at NC State University. She works primarily with her colleagues in LTS in exploring the ways rich media and other Internet-based tools can broaden the scope of online learning for faculty and students at NC State.

She is also an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Art & Design at the College of Design, and owns her own design firm where she pursues projects that present a challenge in the design of educational and cultural materials, particularly for K-12 students and teachers.

Ms. Robertson has presented her work at several national conferences, including the National Middle School Association, Museums and the Web, and the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education, and has recently published her research on design process and online cross-cultural education systems in the International Journal of Social Education. She is among a group of North Carolina artists and designers in the Crosscurrents exhibition at the North Carolina Musem of Art and the Mint Museum, highlighting some of the best two- and three-dimensional works in conventional and unconventional media being created in North Carolina today.

Ms. Robertson also serves on the Committee for Increasing Teacher Knowledge with the NC Center for International Understanding and NC in the World, whose mission is to promote international experiences for educators.
